Menu Listing and Reservation Management Website for Cat Cafe in Seattle's Capitol Hill Neighborhood

Neko offers a unique cafe experience in the heart of one of Seattle' hippest neighbordhoods, Capitol Hill. You can order coffee, beer, wine, and small snacks while settling in for some snuggles with the felines inside Neko's cozy cat room.

The team at Neko partnered with Regional Animal Services of King County—or RASKC—to not only bring some warmth to Seattleites on its many rainy days, but also to help find homes for kitties that may not have been deemed desirable in other adoption settings. All the cats have FeLV—Feline Leukemia Virus. This virus is not transferable to humans but can weaken a cat’s immune system and increase its chances of developing other conditions like cancer. Neko wants these cats to still experience full, rich lives in the presence of loving families, so it uses its space to encourage visitors to adopt its furry residents. Project Objective

The primary goals for Neko's website included sharing basic information about Neko as a cafe (hours of operation, food and drink menus, rules of conduct, etc.), telling visitors about Neko's mission to find homes for its adorable kitties, and encouraging users to reserve a space in the cat room for a future visit. 

Given that the cats themselves are regularly adopted—and with new kitties joining the scene all the time—we also needed to make sure the website was quick and easy to update; after all, we recognize that running a brand new business is hard enough without spending hours on website maintenance.

Website Design and Development Successses

We designed and developed this site on FusionCMS, a content management system that is as flexible to work with as it is easy to use. It's user interface is attractive and navigable, and most areas of Neko's website can be updated within a few clicks of the main CMS dashboard. It's easy for the Neko team to add new cats to their roster and have each profile page render with consistently laid out information and images every time.

Another main feature of this website is the reservations section: This essential functionality makes it easy for site visitors to view current availability then select the day and time they'd like to visit. On the back end, the Neko team can quickly accept and view the reservations for the cat room with only a few clicks.

Additional features include an attractive menu area, adorable page load graphics, easy-to-update announcement banners, and an agile blog space that is perfect for announcing the arrival of new feline residents as well as upcoming events.
